Mission Viejo Central is the area of Mission Viejo between Alicia Parkway and La Paz Road. Many of the original housing tracts lie within this area as does Casta del Sol, a lovely community specifically for folks over 55. Many of the ball parks like Curtis Park and Gilleran Park are in this area as are the fabulous Oso Viejo Community Park and the Norman P. Murray Senior and Community Center.

Casta del Sol is a guard gated community in Mission Viejo Central off Marguerite Parkway and between Jeronimo and Alicia. There are four entrances. There are several different types of homes from 1000sf two bedroom attached homes to spacious detached residences of over 2000sf. Several have views. The residences are members of the Casta del Sol Golf Course, they can enjoy the two recreation centers, complete with pools, spas and tennis courts, clubs, games and events. Palmia is a newer community built by J.M. Peters in the late 1980’s and the early 1990’s and is located in Mission Viejo North. It is a gated and guarded community and features several property types to choose from. It has a resort-like feel while Casta del Sol has a rural feel. Central Mission Viejo is where most of the first homes were built and many of the first schools, parks and commercial centers. The wonderful central park, Oso Viejo Park, is located here, along with the Mission Viejo Library, the Norman P. Murray Community Center and many lighted ball fields and other parks. It is a great place to live.
